\nGarments obey external standards, and their lifespans are dictated not by the body\u2019s growth, but by the churn of fashion.
\nThe T-shirt is perhaps the clearest symbol of this: mass-produced, mass-consumed, standardized.<\/p>\n
Once, we outgrew our clothes. Now, clothes outgrow us.
\nAs trends accelerate, the distance between body and garment only widens.
\nI find myself drawn to what falls outside this cycle.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
My grandmother was a weaver.
\nThe cloth she made was slow \u2014 shaped by rhythm, intuition, and care rather than efficiency or correctness.
\nSuch textiles cultivate attachment; they follow a timeline separate from consumption.
\nMy work is created on that timeline.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
First, I print the outline of a slim body onto a T-shirt.
\nThen, I unravel the fibers by hand, to expand the garment.
\nFinally, the garment dresses a body.
\nIt is a reversal: a too-small garment transformed into something belonging to no single idealized form.
\nAn act of holding discomfort without correcting it.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
This is not a rejection of society, but an embrace \u2014 a way to re-examine and affirm both ourselves and the clothes we choose to wear.<\/p>\n
