In the same way, technology is supposed to accompany people, but in reality, the body and technology are becoming more and more disconnected.” This feeling of alienation and discomfort of the body was the impetus for the production of the film.
Now that there are no restrictions on the development of technology, I wonder if people will one day lose the sense of ‘I am living in the here and now’. To what extent are we aiming for human development?
How can we achieve a future where people and technology are in harmony and coexist in harmony?
I thought it was important to reconfirm one’s own raw and live with a sense of raw.
This work is based on contemporary dance, which is my own physical expression at the moment when I feel the most raw (life).
I wanted to use the touch designer software to create data on the way my own raw body reacts to its surroundings and the trajectory of the raw inside me. The pattern was created with the data and the raw data.
The pattern is a combination of that data and an echo photograph of my own foetus, the root of raw and life, and was output using an EPSON Monna Lisa printer.
The material used was HUMOFIT, a new material from Mitsui Chemicals.
The properties of HUMOFIT are beyond the conventional textile, without feeling the concept of gravity, and by using this material, I felt the possibility of future clothes that will evolve in the future.
It is a participatory garment that transcends the object of clothing, in which one’s raw becomes a design, a symbiosis.
The work is patterned in such a way that three-dimensional objects pop out of two-dimensional ones. The jacket is a large sack, like being in a womb, which makes one imagine amniotic fluid. It also represents the heart as it tightens and expands and fluctuates in various ways.
The creators worked with the hope of a future in which technology and the body coexist in harmony.
