This year, the event will be held at MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives, one of FFP’s Collaborating Institutions. The program will feature a symposium exploring the diverse creativity of fashion and its future possibilities, presentations of works by the FFP2025 winners, final presentations by the eight FFP2026 finalists, and an Award Ceremony announcing three winners.
At the heart of the event is a symposium bringing together fashion designers whose creative practices extend beyond the conventional frameworks of fashion brand management and garment-making, embracing diverse forms of expression and creative activities. Through conversations about the origins of their creative journeys, their approaches to making, and their visions for the future, the symposium will explore the rich creative potential of fashion and the possibilities that lie ahead.
In a world where goods are produced in ever-increasing quantities and the pace of industry continues to accelerate, what does it mean to create something new? How should creators engage with society while preserving the integrity of their creativity? And what kinds of creators should FFP recognize, evaluate, and support as we look toward the future?
Through this event, we invite not only those working in fashion, design, and craftsmanship, but also everyone interested in new forms of expression and creativity, to come together and reflect on the future of fashion.
Looking back at the history of Japanese fashion, designers have continually engaged with the cultures and values of their times, creating diverse forms of expression that challenge established conventions. This spirit of creativity has been passed down through generations, evolving and taking on new forms in the present day. For this symposium, we will welcome designers who have followed different paths and developed their creative practices through their own distinct approaches.
What led them to pursue their current work? What values guide their creative processes, and what kind of future do they envision? What do they hope to communicate to society through fashion as a form of expression?
By bringing together designers who ordinarily work in different contexts, the symposium aims to create a space for dialogue in which shared perspectives, unexpected connections, and new possibilities may emerge beyond their individual practices.
Rather than viewing fashion simply as clothing or trends, FFP approaches it as something deeply connected to society and the environment. By bringing together creativity and social responsibility, the program seeks to encourage designers to propose new values and possibilities for the future.
In 2026, sixteen selected semi-finalists have developed and deepened their creative practices through lectures and feedback sessions with experts from a wide range of fields.
At the Final Presentations on December 12, the eight finalists who advanced through the Secondary Selection will present the outcomes of their exploration and creative development. The subsequent Award Ceremony will announce the three winners selected through the Final Selection.
For the first time, the Final Selection and Award Ceremony, previously held primarily for invited guests and industry professionals, will be open to the general public.
This is an opportunity to witness the moment when the next generation of fashion creators presents their questions, ideas, and visions to society.
Through discussions exploring the origins of their creative journeys, the backgrounds of their practices, and the diverse expressions cultivated throughout the history of Japanese fashion, the symposium will consider the creative potential of fashion and its future possibilities.
Further details, including speakers and discussion topics, will be announced at a later date.
This program offers an opportunity to encounter the perspectives of emerging creators who seek to propose new values and possibilities for the future through fashion.
Together with our guests, we will celebrate the culmination of a year of creative exploration, bringing together diverse perspectives and approaches to fashion.
