2025 Daimaru Matsuzakaya Touring Exhibition Report

We held the 2025 Daimaru Matsuzakaya Touring Exhibition

With the cooperation of our partner company, Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co., Ltd., a partner of the FASHION FRONTIER PROGRAM, this year we held a touring exhibition in three cities: Sapporo, Tokyo, and Nagoya.

This exhibition provided a valuable opportunity not only for artists to showcase their work, but also for them to engage directly with a wide range of customers in the unique setting of a department store. The artists were able to talk about their creative process and interact personally with visitors.

Some of the finalist artists took advantage of the exhibition period to explain their works and sell them at the venue, allowing for direct conversations with customers visiting the department stores. This enabled the artists to gain firsthand feedback on how their works were received, which they found invaluable for informing their future creative activities.

Exhibiting in department stores—a public space with direct access to real customers—provides next-generation creators with practical learning opportunities and serves as a significant source of inspiration for their future activities.

Visitors shared encouraging feedback such as, ”I wish I had known about this sooner!” and ”I’d love to see it again.”

Thanks to the cooperation of our partner companies, this exhibition created a valuable chance to connect with many customers. Moving forward, we will continue various initiatives to expand opportunities for artists to engage with society through their creative work.
