After FASHION FRONTIER PROGRAM 2024

Thanks to all of you who applied and participated in this year’s competition, and to all of you who excitedly cheered us on, wondering who would win the Grand Prix, we were able to successfully complete the 8-month program from the start of application to the end of the exhibition.

Message sent to FASHION FRONTIER PROGRAM EXHIBITION 2024

This year, we held two exhibitions, one at Kudan house (invitation only) and the other at the headquarters of Goldwin Co.
Thank you very much for the many visitors to both events.

We received a lot of great feedback from those who visited the exhibition at Goldwin Inc.
We have also posted them on Instagram, but we would like to share with you some of the messages we were not able to introduce.

・I was attracted to Ms. Kawajiri’s work displayed in the show window. She spins the threads from handkerchiefs and sheets, and leaves the patterns of the parts of the threads in her dresses and pants. The colors are wonderful, and I hope they will be used in commercials and other costumes, and be published in magazines so that many people will be able to see them. I was impressed by the idea of dyeing cloth with rust, threading horse skins into clothes without cutting them, and making cloth from cocoons instead of from cocoons into thread.

・Each technique was fresh, such as textiles dyed with wood thread and sewn with wood thread, using plastic with holes made by mill worms after they ate it, upcycling discarded clothes in Kenya, and creating new textures by drawing out the finer threads. Not only was the exhibition a fresh surprise, but it was also heartwarming to read the captions, as I felt I was able to get close to the artist’s feelings.

・I was amazed at the three-dimensional design of the only piece made of denim. I hope that one day you will create your own brand and succeed.

・I felt that each piece had an unforgettable impact once seen.
Especially, “WE WANNA 農!!” was especially memorable. I had thought that the culture of “agriculture,” which continues to support our food, belonged to a position far removed from fashion in the modern age, and that it was a distant existence. However, I felt that by combining agriculture and fashion, a new culture will be born and become more familiar to us.

・All of them impressed me with their unique ideas, original perspectives and rich creativity. There are as many creations as there are people. I feel the further possibilities of fashion!

・I was pleasantly surprised to see that everyone had a strong concept, but at the same time, each of them was tackling the underlying social issues head-on with their own weapons.

Finally, we would like to share with you the presentations of the eight finalists and the final presentation, which were even more heated than the primary and secondary selection.
